The cross and typestyle for the logo of Anglican Church of the Valley were created for us about 2009 by an artist member of the church.

The entire congregation was invited to an opportunity to gather and learn from one another around the themes of the 7 Practices as reflected through some of their very own creatives.

This year, Pentecost Sunday at Restoration in Arlington, VA included a special art installation.

During Lent, All Souls in Richmond, VA had art installed over the altar. You can read about it here. For Easter, the artwork was transformed.

Anglicans can be an eclectic bunch.  We are more than willing to take something good in the broader church and make it our own.  A case in point is the 18 icons hanging on the walls near the entrance to the sanctuary at Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly, VA.

Lent brings us on the well-worn path of our church calendar journey to the edge of the wilderness, the dry desolate place where we are invited to set down our excesses and instead take the hand of our humble, wounded and faithful Friend. Like the traveler walking out of a forest, we emerge from the abundant seasons of Christmas and Epiphany, of feasting and light and holy alleluias, where we have been nourished and blessed. 

Christ the King in Alexandria, VA and New Creation Church in Hagerstown, MD recently hosted community choir concerts.

During Lent, All Souls in Richmond, VA has installed a stunning piece of art behind the alter to encourage prayerful meditation.

Incarnation Anglican, Arlington, VA, partners with Vera Fernandes of For the Nations DC, who provides trauma recovery work for Afghan refugee women.

On Wednesdays during Lent this year, Christ the King, Alexandria, VA, is offering “Artful Lenten Prayers.”

Friends from Redeemer and other local congregations met at Redeemer’s Parish House and had a wonderful evening of fellowship, sharing, and encouragement of each others’ talents.

On August 27, St. Thomas Anglican, Gainesville, VA, celebrated International Play Music on the Porch Day.

This summer, Sharon McKannon, from All Saints’ Church in Woodbridge, VA, was on set for the filming of The Chosen series, and hearing her discuss the experience, you can’t help but feel the excitement and joy that she had being a part of the show!

Redeemer Anglican invites you to an Artist Share Night on July 22 at 6 p.m.

In addition to the Triduum services (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Eve), churches around the Diocese offer a variety of opportunities to experience the last moments before Jesus’ death to help usher in a blessed Easter Sunday.

The Healing Center International (HCI) offerings teach people how to have an interactive relationship with God, where they can begin to see all of life from his gracious, loving point of view. Their hope is that they can begin to feel how deeply they are loved, and as a result, love others more deeply in return.
