A Community Partnership to Assist Refugees from Afghanistan

by Hayden Sealander

On September 18, Christ the King, Alexandria, VA, combined efforts with the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) to assist refugees from Afghanistan. ECDC’s programs assist newcomers by giving them hope for their future, and helping them become self-sufficient, productive members of their communities. More than 30 members of Christ the King showed up to the ECDC donation center to organize their donations and make the center useable for new Afghan refugee families. Another group drove around Northern Virginia with pickup trucks, picked up furniture from donors, and delivered them to new families! It was such and amazing time. Christ the King hopes to continue to work with ECDC through their co-sponsorship program. This would mean Christ the King supporting a specific refugee family in several areas such as housing, jobs, education, etc. Please pray for this possibility to become a reality!
