Good Shepherd Church of India

After partnering with the Good Shepherd Church of India since 2018, Church of the Holy Spirit in Leesburg, VA, was happy to welcome Most Rev. Dr. Joseph D’souza, the Archbishop and Moderator of the Good Shepherd Church on February 4-5, 2023. A great friend of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, Archbishop D’souza enjoyed spending time with the people in the parish, celebrated the eucharist, and spoke on Hebrews 12:1-3, while giving an update on Good Shepherd's vibrant ministry going on in India. 

Of special note, the Archbishop highlighted the extreme persecution Christians and other religious minorities in India are facing on a daily basis and called for concerted prayer for strength, relief and true freedom of religion in the Indian sub-continent. Church of the Holy Spirit, led by Rev. Clancy Nixon, welcomed Archbishop D’souza and presented him with the Icon of Christ, Christ the Pantocrator.  The Archbishop will return to the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic later in 2023 and hopes to connect with other parishes and parishioners in the future.  For more information on the Good Shepherd Church of India, please refer to their American website www.gsi.org, or contact their Senior Director of Global Partnerships, Rev.
