Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Come and be trained to lead Catechesis of the Good Shepherd!
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is one of the main ways that Corpus Christi Anglican in Springfield, VA forms their children on Sunday mornings. It is a Montessori-based approach to religious formation that dovetails with the philosophy of St. John Bosco and his view of the dignity of the child. The Atrium (the controlled environment where children do CGS) contains small manipulative materials which the child is free to return to again and again in a moment in liturgy, scripture, and/or sacrament until the story is imprinted on their hearts and minds.
The current course is level 1 training (level 1 atrium is aimed at 3-6-year-old children) and is taught by Marilyn Krause at Angelus Academy. The training typically takes 12+ weeks and includes a required observation of a Montessori primary group and observation in the atrium of 10 hours.
