Youth Attend Anglican Youth Ministry Winter Retreat

Last weekend, Jan. 18-21, over 300 youth and volunteers from DOMA and Diocese of Christ Our Hope gathered for a weekend of crazy games, tremendous worship, Anglican formation, powerful teaching, and life-changing discussions at Booyah Brr! in Scottsville, VA. Booyah Brrr! is the Anglican Youth Ministry’s (AYM) annual winter mini-retreat.

This year’s teaching focused on relationships: with others, with self, and with God. Biblical teaching included challenging scriptures from Genesis and Hosea. Every day, campers were taught from the Word and had time to process it alone and with others. Many of the youth from All Saints’ Church (Woodbridge, VA) shared that they had not previously studied Hosea and were reminded in a new way about God’s redeeming love through the prophet’s act of retrieving and forgiving his adulterous wife.

One of the goals of Booyah Brr! (and Camp Booyah, the summer AYM experience) is to help youth leaders connect with the youth from their own churches without the distraction of planning and organizing a retreat. The youth leaders participate in all of the activities (including field games, bonfires, ropes course, zip lines) instead of slipping away to organize the next event at a retreat.

The youth at All Saints’ invite more of the youth around DOMA to this summer’s adventure in June at Watermarks Camp! Check out the details here.
