Chile Wildfire Support
To our brothers and sisters in faith, in the United States:
On Friday, February 2, a mega forest fire hit the Valparaíso Region, in Chile. Currently the death toll has been confirmed at 130 deaths with 15,000 homes destroyed.
This catastrophe has affected many families belonging to the Anglican Church of Chile (IACH), all of whom lost their homes and had relatives who died in the fire.
Sister Ines Vega lost her entire house in the Fire. She is being provided with emotional and psychological support, with a purchased generator to freeze her insulin, since she is diabetic, and the church is supporting her as we begin walking out a plan to rebuild her home and life after the fire.
The entire church in Chile has organized to provide support to these families and the community in the affected sectors. Support is being given in prayer, with funding, with volunteers, emotional and psychological support given and help as these families and the community begin the long task of reconstruction.
The church has also aided in helping provide food assistance to the affected families as the community organized to provided more long term assistance.
We want to share this great need with you and offer the opportunity to pray for those who have suffered this catastrophe in Chile and to support them financially through the Anglican Relief & Development Fund (ARDF). ARDF supports churches and faith-based nonprofits working on the ground to bring food and other essentials, volunteer labor, and rebuilding supplies to communities in need. As ARDF partners serve their communities, the Kingdom is expanded, one tangible act of compassion at a time.
Thank you,
