ARDF Update: Kentucky Flood Relief

In mid August, the eastern counties of Kentucky experienced a record amount of rain in just two hours. This resulted in mass flooding destroying homes and taking many lives. The people were left homeless and hungry with little more than the clothes on their backs. As aid slowly filtered in, it became obvious that the churches and other disaster recovery organizations would take the lead in helping our fellow Kentuckians. I was contacted by Tommy Lamb from the ARDF who quickly offered material support through their organization as well as other others including the Lutheran Church of North America. I have been blessed to be part of this recovery effort. Through the help of the ARDF, we have been able to feed 3000 people, purchase much needed heaters and supplies for winter and start collecting items for babies.

The need continues as we prepare for cold weather. As more than 2000 homes were washed away, many people are still homeless. Without the help of our ARDF, I can truly state that these displaced souls would be much worse off. I have seen the face of God these past few weeks in those cooking meals, delivering supplies and donating funds. The need continues and I pray anyone wanting to donate to a worthwhile charity will consider the ARDF.
