All Souls: Artwork for Advent

Once again, All Souls in Richmond, VA, has adorned the space behind the altar with new artwork, inviting worshippers to engage in the spiritual practice of waiting during the Advent season.

Artist Cameron Wilson Ritcher explains: “I wanted to make something that captures both the tangible, literal nature of God coming down to Earth in human form, but also the mystery and depth of such an event. The blue and purple hues symbolize royalty but also the "pre-dawn" period of stillness and waiting. As an artist, my job is less about what I know or can do and more about simply noticing what God is already doing.”
